General 

The coastal areas of Bangladesh play an important role in the economy of this country. Bangladesh Coast Guard plays a vital role for safeguarding the economic activities in our coast by preventing piracy, smuggling, drug trafficking and marine pollution. The newly built HPBs will be useful to carry out these roles. The boats will have good sea-keeping ability and should be able to operate in shallow water near coasts and beaches. Apart from these, HPBs will also able to support conduct of relief and rescue operation during severe natural calamities in the coastal area.

General Characteristics

The HPBs are of the following general characteristics:

a.     Able to operate in tropical waters.

b.     Constructed with high quality marine grade corrosion resistant aluminium alloy.

c.     The vessel is able to operate up to sea state 4 conditions with survivability up to sea state 6 conditions.

d.     Capable of interdicting of suspect vessels, detention of suspects, as well as rescue mission.

e.     Constructed under the supervision of Bureau Veritas (BV).


 Accommodation

(1)   1 x Cabin for Officer.

(2)   1 x Cabin for crew with 4 berths.

(3)   1 x Guest Cabin.

All of these cabins are furnished with appropriate furniture and fittings along with facilities for cooking, dining, and recreation.
