Purpose
The
primary role of the IPVs are Coastal patrol and policing duties, protection of
territorial waters, anti-piracy, anti-smuggling and anti-drug trafficking
operation and surveillance, Search and Rescue operation in inland and coastal
areas, Fishery protection and patrol in and around the ports and the coastal
area, Disaster relief operation, Protection of environmental pollution in the
coastal area.

General Characteristics
The IPVs have following general

Able to operate at sea state 4 and capable
to sustain up to sea state 6.

Main hull is made of marine steel and
superstructure is of high quality marine grade corrosion resistant aluminium alloy.

years and annual usage 2800 hrs approx.
